In August 2015, Gregory Barker was made a life Peer and, since October 2015, has been a member of the House of Lords of the UK Parliament. Lord Barker has extensive business experience in the energy sector, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, investor relations, and private equity, prior to a successful career as a prominent public official.

Lord Barker was appointed by Mayor Boris Johnson to Chair of the London Sustainable Development Commission, and served as a Member of the London Infrastructure Delivery Board from November 2015 until stepping down (following the change of Mayor) in November 2016.
